Planet Kaitos is a suspiciously earthlike planet inhabited by semiaquatic, boringly humanoid, sapient aliens. Some of the images I use are pretty ugly and old, will try to update sometime
The planet is a bit smaller than Earth, and the gravity is just a barely noticeably weaker. It orbits a star which you can see in the night sky here (don't ask me which one) along with five other planets. It has two moons.
Kaitos is generally wetter and warmer than Earth, and much more of its surface is covered in water. The landmass is primarily distributed over islands. There are abviously a lot of countries that you couldn't force me to come up with. The world can be divided into four cultural regions: the Southeast, Southwest, Northwest, and Nort. The southeast is what I mostly talk about. The image below shows the whole planet with big islands and the regions coloured, but it's not accurate anymore, sorry TvT
As I said, there are people aliens on Kaitos. Since I suckk, I just call them Kaitoans.
The Kaitoans have blue skin, ranging in colour from light to dark and slightly greenish to kind of purplish. The hair is usually black or some shade of blue, tho in rare cass green and purple and even red exist. They are a bit smaller than humans, about 150cm for the average woman and under 160 for the average man.
They have pretty thick tails that reach the ground and a bit further. The tails have tadpole-style fins that add about 20 cm. The fins are tan or beige in colour, ca 1cm thick, semi-transparent- sinewy and almost jelly-like in texture. They are also found on the legs (continuing like flippers from the feet), between the fingers, along the arms, (all for ease of swimming) and by the ears(this helps them hear underwater.) They can breathe both on land 8with regular deguar lungs) and in water with gills on both sides of the neck. They breathe in water through the nose and filter it through the gills, picking up the oxygen.
Their legs are weird, to hep with swimming. The lower legs (beneath the knee) are flattened and bent backwards, and the feet are in a tiptoe (almost digitrade) position, with the toe region acting as the foot.
They are like mammals in every way except the one that makes you a mammal. The women still have tits because uuuuhhhh.
The people mainly live on islands by shallow seas with fertile floors. There are alot of these places, especially more southward, which is what I'm talking about here.
The overwater landscape is pretty much like any tropical region on earth, lots of palm trees and ferns and stuff. There are trees underwater too, they are usually kind of baobab-shaped with smooth bark, long roots, and long kelp-like leaves. They flower and bear fruit, often mango or passion fruit like, or smaller berries. The flowers are pollinated by uhh scuds. Yeah.
There are all kinds of fish imaginable, alot more large (meterlong) ones than on earth. Semi and fully aquatic almost-mammals, like the kaitoans, are also common. They are usually blue in colour.
Houses are built on land and usually built in rounded (dome-like?) shapes with a white clay/cement thing. They are often pretty big, since there are many generations and cousins and stuff per family, and are painted with colourful patterns on the outside. The shape can be pretty complex with many small irregular rooms and hallways and balconies. Windows usually don't have glass and it's common to use bead or curtain doors indoors.
Cities are tightly packed and houses are all up in eachother's business. On the countryside houses aren't as tight and (if you're poorer) can be built out of wood.
Some people live more nomadically on raft-like houseboats, that can connect together into entire villages. The traditional kind of regular boat is outrigger-style sailboats of different sizes, still commonly used. Motorboats and huge motor ships are also a thing. Everybody has a boat pretty much.
